Happy October!

Wow, has it really been over a month since my latest blog post?!  I have been so abstracted with the musings of everyday life, I have hardly had time to post a single thought, study, or even a simple recipe for that matter!  My life has been a crazy roller-coaster ride for the past few months ( a roller-coaster that only goes up, I might add  . . . just to inform you all that these eventful times for me have been rather enjoyable and rewarding, and not the other way around. ;)

Due to my constant busyness and full schedule I haven't had much of an opportunity to read many of my avid followers' blogs either, and I am so sorry for that!  I dearly miss seeing what's new in your lives as well as conversing about topics of interests through my posts.  I am really hoping to become more consistent with blogging again ( haven't I said this before already? ) . . . ;P  Ah, well . . . I'll definitely keep trying anyway. ;)

So . . . onto new subjects . . . can ya'll believe October is here already?!  It seems like just a week ago I was running through the yard barefoot, snapping photos of the new buds and blossoms of the plants in our backyard . . .  I remember photographing the enchanting scenery of Spring at it's loveliest, and now I look out my window to watch the trees change color and see piles of fallen leaves scattered on the ground.  It's just so bizarre to reminisce about this past year and realize how fast everything seemed to go by!  Don't get me wrong though, I'm not complaining. 2014 has been a great year so far, and Summer was a very eventful and exciting time for me ( hopefully I'll be able to update with all the impelling details in the nearby future! )  Yes, I am blessed to say that this year has been very productive for me. :)

Anyway . . . enough about me. ;)  How have all of you been???  How was your Summer?  Are you all looking forward to the cooler weather, or just the opposite?  I certainly am not looking forward to the frigid temperatures that Winter brings, but, I am embracing the blessings that Autumn will bring while it's here for this short season.
Why is it that one of the loveliest seasons has to last for such a short period of time?  Ohhhh well . . . it just makes us all the more thankful for it when we have such little time to relish in the magnificence of Autumn. :)

I hope you all have had a wonderful Summer and will be blessed with the joys of this new season!

Follow Christ

Would you consider yourself to be one of Christ's loyal followers?  If you are one of Christ's disciples, be loyal to Him and only to Him.  Being a follower of Christ means that, as Christians, we must eradicate any number of things that might fritter us away from the one true Center.  But be aware of the chastises and prejudices that may be put in place of Christ's sovereignty; prejudices of doctrine, of conviction, or experience . . .
When we tread on the path of Christ, slowly and steadily we begin to notice that He is building our spiritual and moral character along with intellectual discernment--these develop together; if we push one at the expense of the other, we shall get out of touch with God.
Jesus said, "I am . . . the First and the Last."  Is Christ the first and the last of your personal creed?  The first and last of all you look to and hope for?  The disciple of discipleship has to be delayed until we learn that God's barriers are put there not by sovereign deity only.  They are put there by a God whose will is holy and absolute, and who has told us plainly, "not that way".

"No life ever grows great until it is focused, dedicated, and disciplined."
 . . . . choose to follow Christ.

"Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after Me,
let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me."
Matthew 16:24

Beautiful Blogger Award

Greetings, everyone!
I have been nominated again (surprise, surprise!) though this time by Ashley from Fun Farm Girl. She actually nominated me for three awards (the Beautiful Blogger award, Liebster award, and the Sunflower award). But I think the questions she asked go for all three of them, so, here are my answers . . .

Ashley's questions:

1). Why did you start blogging?
There were a lot of blogs that I loved reading and after seeing all the unique blog designs and topics, I decided to start a blog of my own. And I am so glad that I did! I dearly love blogging and I am so thankful that I was introduced to this blogosphere on the web. :-)

2). What is your favorite quote?

Oh, that's a tough one. I have soooo many! But one of my favorites would have to be "Lord, stamp mine eyes with eternity." It may seem simple, but it puts things into perspective.

3). What type of friend would you call yourself? Click here to decide.

Hmm, probably "The Younger Sister" or "the Talker". To some I may seem like "The Intellectual" though.

4). What are 3 things you dream of doing?

- Getting married and having lots of children
- Publishing my novel
- Traveling

5). If you could meet any person on earth, who would it be?

Can I say Jesus? I'm not sure if that counts, but I'm going to pick it anyway. ;)

6). What was one of the things you wanted to be as a child?

A musical artist

7). What is your favorite sport to play?

Swimming! (if you can consider that a sport... otherwise, I'd say volleyball)

8). If you could go back in time which time period would you choose to be in?

Either Regency, Victorian, or Edwardian. The 50's would be fun too.

9). Have you always been more ladylike or more like "one of the boys"?

Well, when I was a little tike I was a bit of a tomboy, but I grew out that years ago and have attributed more feminine qualities and pursuits since then.

10). What is your favorite book?

The Bible

11). If you could change anything about your life what would it be?

Oh, I really don't know. I am so blessed, so it's hard to pick something to change! Hmm... well, I know that I am still quite young, but I would love to have met the man of my dreams by now and begun a courtship leading towards marriage. I am a hopeless romantic and I honestly can not wait to begin my life as a wife and mother!

Thanks so much, Ashley!
Ta ta for now!

This is My Father's World

This is my Father’s world,
And to my list’ning ears
All nature sings, and round me rings
The music of the spheres.
This is my Father’s world:
I rest me in the thought
Of rocks and trees, of skies and seas—
His hand the wonders wrought.

This is my Father’s world:
The birds their carols raise,
The morning light, the lily white,
Declare their Maker’s praise.
This is my Father’s world:
He shines in all that’s fair;
In the rustling grass I hear Him pass,
He speaks to me everywhere.

This is my Father’s world:
Oh, let me ne’er forget
That though the wrong seems oft so strong,
God is the ruler yet.
This is my Father’s world,
The battle is not done:
Jesus who died shall be satisfied,
And earth and Heav’n be one.

Liebster Award #4

Well, I think that this is my fourth time of being awarded with the Liebster Award (thank you, Danielle!).

Rules regarding the Liebster Award ( I have the rules memorized now, as I am sure you all have as well. But I will proceed to list them anyway )

~Thank and link back the person who nominated you
~List eleven facts about yourself
~Answer the eleven questions asked by the blogger who nominated you
~Nominate 9 bloggers who have fewer than 200 followers (you can't nominate the blogger who nominated you)
~Ask them eleven questions
~Let them know of their nomination!

Danielle's questions:

1). What is something you are interested in that most people are surprised you like?

Hmmm, I'm not sure exactly... I'm just your typical whimsical individual with a love for girlish, pretty things. ;)

2). What are your thoughts on Disney?

I love Disney! At 19, one may think that I am too old to be watching such juvenile films, but in my mind, I will never be too old for a Disney movie!

3). Is your room neat and tidy? Or is it full and chaotic?

Neat and tidy. Although you could consider my room to be full of books. Maybe...

4). Are there any television shows you have heard a lot about and are keen on watching?

Perhaps there are a few I would like to check out sometime.

5). Do you collect anything a bit weird?

No, I don't think so. I'm not a big collector of things other than books.

6). Is there anything you would love to do more of, but can't due to location/abilities/age?

I would love to play music in public, but I'm not familiar with any local places that would be privileged to hear me play.

7). Is there anything you started as a child that you wish you had kept up with so you could still do it? Like dancing or something?

I think I have kept most of my hobbies, but I do wish that I would have taken music lessons.

8). Do you like wearing skirts and/or dresses?

Indeed I do! They are what I wear most everyday, unless I am involved in some event that requires you to wear pants.

9). Do you enjoy shopping?

Absolutely! But you need money for that, and that is something I don't usually have much of (well, spare money anyway...)

10). Do you have any close friends you have met in very unusual circumstances?

11). What is the last thing you won?

Does a blogger award count? ;)

And again I am choosing to close here without any nominations or questions of my own. It has been a long day for me and I am quite exhausted. So ta ta for now, dear readers!
I do hope you all are enjoying your week!

Until next time!

You are probably not going to believe this, but . . .

. . . I have been tagged again!  Goodness gracious, you all are probably beginning to think that I am tagging myself with all of these awards . . . but honestly, it is indubitable.  This time, Evie over at A Period Drama Fangirl has nominated me for the "Bucket List Tag".  I almost can't believe it myself, but I am going to continue to do the tags while they keep coming  (this could almost have its own series of posts now . . . like, Tag Thursdays?  Heh, just kidding.)  But really you guys, I am flattered by your thoughtfulness.  It means so much!

I am also ecstatic to announce that I have gained three new followers just within the past couple of weeks!  (which is a great accomplishment for me, by the way).  My little blog on the web is growing more popular each and every day with more visitors and followers and I am so thankful for all of this wonderful support! You all are so amazing! Thank you!

But anyway, without further ado (I am probably boring all of you with my ramblings), I will proceed to list some of the things on my current bucket list. But please note that my bucket list is excessively long, so I am only going to name a few here. But you should get the gist nonetheless.

 All right, here goes!

:: My Bucket List ::

Hopefully my family and I will plan a vacation here.

Once my hair gets long enough.

Oh how I pray for this to happen!

Children are a gift from God.

This December!!!

I would love this.

I really want to be a bridesmaid someday!

Ohhh yes, could not forget this one. Definitely on the top of my list.

It would be so precious!

Where, oh, where could you be my future man?

And hopefully a whole lot of them someday!

It would be really sweet, I think.

When I finally meet that "special someone".  Or perhaps I have already met him . . . ???

Already got the invitation, now how shall I afford it?

This has been one of my biggest dreams for as long as I can remember!  I have always been told that I should voice a Disney character, because supposedly I can sing like a Disney Princess ? =O

There is one not too far from my house, but unfortunately the castle's property is off limits.  grrrr :/

Someday, hopefully!

My wedding could be small for all I care.  A strong and meaningful marriage is better than a big wedding.

Yes!  And I have a lot of them!

This is also on the top of my list.

Well!  That was fun!  Thank you so much for tagging me, Evie!
Until next time,

And yet another Liebster Award!?

It is true, I have been nominated for yet anotherthis is three so far ) Liebster Award!  This time, all the thanks goes to Paige at Sunday Best and All the Rest.  I am delighted that you all have been so kind to think of nominating me.  I feel so special!  :-)

Here we go again! . . . these are Paige's questions:

1). What is the long term goal for your blog?

My goal for this blog is to encourage and inspire, whether with the simple Bible studies that I may upload, quotes I choose to share, poems I write, and so forth.  My desire is to be a reflection of Christ to all of you in hopes that my readers will be spiritually uplifted.

2). What have you enjoyed the most about blogging so far?

All of the lovely compliments I have received from my dearest followers!  You all have encouraged me to keep doing what I am doing and I am so thankful for that.  It also pleases me to know that I am inspiring some of you with my posts.  It really means a lot. :)

3). Peanut butter + chocolate or mint + chocolate?

Ahhh, now that is a tough one, seeing as I love both combinations so much!  But, I am going to have to say peanut butter+chocolate, only because there are so many desserts that I am quite fond of with that combination!

4). For your birthday, would you rather have your mom or sister
cook you a special meal or go out to eat?

Although normally I would say that I would want my mom to cook something special for me, she is sweet enough to make whatever I want when asked to.  So, I am going to have to say that I'd choose to go out to eat.  But, I would want my mom to accompany me at the restaurant. ;)

5). Series or stand alone books?

Hmm, I think I prefer stand alone books, although I dearly love an intriguing series!

6). What version of the Bible do you prefer?

King James Version.  Oh, and the Geneva Bible.

7). Do you journal your studies in scripture?

Often times, yes.

8). If you were to host a period costume event, what era would it be?

Probably Regency or Victorian.  They are both so diverting!

9). Do you spend your day in bare feet, socks, or shoes?

I must admit that I go barefoot most of the time; socks vex me unless my feet are extremely cold, and shoes are just plain uncomfortable (unless I am wearing a pair of my favorite flats).

10). If you could have a gift card to any clothing store, including online, what would it be for?

Goodwill!  I have found some pretty amazing clothes there!

11). If I were to visit you in your hometown, what would be the first place you'd want me to see?

The entire Driftless Area.  It is so stunning, you would not regret seeing it!  We get tourists from different countries visiting here every year because the scenery is so breathtaking.

As I stated in my last blog award post, I am choosing to dismiss myself before proceeding to ask any questions.  Business calls to me at this late hour, but it was a delight answering all of the fun questions!

Thanks again, Paige!

God Bless!

Update + Photo Friday #6

As I am sure that you have already noticed, I have been majorly slacking with my blog posts lately. Life has been extremely busy for me since I started working at my new job. I feel as though I don't have any time to breathe, let alone take some time to post on here! Don't get me wrong, I dearly love my job, but it is going to take some time getting used to before I am able to relax and find time for personal activities.

So, I am warning you all that my posts will continue to be lackadaisical for a while until life settles down some. I may try to update here and there, but my recipe and photo uploads will most likely be neglected for a bit. Although I am currently baking every. single. day. at my new job, somehow I just don't find the time to upload a new recipe. Stay tuned though! I will find the time to continue as I have before my family and I opened this new business! I love blogging too much to neglect it entirely. :-)

But for now, here is a picture of a gorgeous yellow rose that my brother got for me yesterday! It was such a sweet and thoughtful gesture, and I couldn't help but take a picture (more like pictures, but I only opted to upload one) of this celestial beauty. He knows exactly what makes me happy, since yellow roses are my absolute favorite flower! Isn't he just the sweetest? ♥

I hope you all are having a lovely week!
Until next time!
( whenever that is . . . )

Thanks for the fun questions, Evie!

    Our Christian Heritage

In celebration of Independence Day, here are some quotes from our founding fathers and lyrics to a meaningful song.
I am re-posting these quotes because I find them to be very powerful and true.

"Although our Christian heritage is a cornerstone of American history, it has been almost forgotten and scrubbed from our history books. The truths spoken by American heroes for centuries are being buried and neglected. Is it any wonder we now live in a society adrift, unable to discern right from wrong?" - taken from the Wissmann Family website.

"Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people."
    Proverbs 14:34

    "In God We Trust"

A great and faithful heritage has been our legacy
As men of honor sacri´Čüced to make our country free

But through the journey of the years we’ve somehow gone astray
When did we leave our sacred guide to follow our own way?

Lets go back to the founding of America,
Remembering Who made this nation blessed,

And as the men who fought and died,
We’ll claim the Bible as our guide

That once again this freedom cry
    Would ring throughout the land

    In God we trust!

"And where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty."
    2 Cor 3:17

    Sunflower Blogger Award

As of recently, I was nominated for the Sunflower Blogger Award by Hannah from Bits of Simplicity.

The rules state that the awarded individual must nominate six other bloggers with less than two hundred followers.
The rules: Link back to the person who nominated you, and answer as you see fit, at your leisure.

    So I nominate:

    Bethany at Liberty of Death

    Naomi at Wonderland Creek

    Gabriela at Under Grace

Evie at A Period Drama Fangirl

    Laura at Gazing Wonders

    Heidi at Along the Brandywine

    And here are Hannah's questions:

1). What is your favorite Christian song? What does it mean to you?
Goodness, that's a tough one! Hmm, well . . . although there are many songs that I am quite fond of, one of my all time favorite songs would have to be "He Is Faithful" by Rachel Wissmann. Ever since I first heard this song it has held a special place in my heart. It is just a sweet, meaningful song that describes the loving-faithfulness of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. ♥

2).  Pretend you are writing a fictitious story about a courageous and valiant heroine who sacrifices her life for her family. What would you name her?
Lady Lynn of Locksley *wink wink* ( Can you tell that I am a Robin Hood fan? ;)

3). If you could live in any period of history for one year, which would you choose?
Hmmm... well, I am not sure if I'd rather live in the Regency, Victorian, or Edwardian era, but either would be a delight for me!

4). If you could play one, which would it be? Baroque-style cello or Appalachian-style mandolin?
Oh my gracious, must you make me choose? It is a difficult question because the two instruments I have dearly wanted to learn to play are the cello and mandolin! Urggg... but, I guess if I had to choose, I must say the cello. It has such a rich, beautiful sound. :)

5). If you could master any accent, what would it be?
Irish, I think. According to my family I am already pretty good at speaking with an Irish and English accent, but I still think I could improve a bit. ;)

    6). Courtship or dating?
Definitely courtship. I have read several convicting novels that have brought me to the conclusion that courtship is best. :)

    7). Espresso or pink lemonade?
    Espresso all the way!

8). Would you describe yourself as dreamy and idealistic, or practical and down-to-earth?
    Probably practical and down-to-earth.

9). Given the choice, which country would you visit on a two-week mission trip?
Well, I've always wanted to go to India and volunteer to help the homeless children there...

10). What Scripture verse means the most to you?
Ooh, that's a tough one. Probably Galatians 2:20. It has been my favorite scripture for as long as I can remember. :)

    And my questions are:

1). What is your dream home?
2). Do you have a current occupation? If not, what would you like for your future job to be?
3). Have you grown stronger spiritually in a specific area where you struggled before? How did God help you out of it?
4). What is your favorite color to wear?
5). Name a place that you have always wanted to visit?
6). Can you speak any other language besides that of your own ethnicity?
7). What is your favorite film?
8). If you could live in any time period, what would you choose?
    9). Iced or hot coffee?
10). Do you like, dislike, love, or adore my blog? ( sorry, just had to ask that question. :)

Well, that is it for now!

Thank you Hannah for the lovely questions!
    God Bless!
